Would you like to run a workshop with your local group that is different to anything Rethinking Economics has seen before? Your group should host an Economy toolkit session!
This means your group would become an official Economy partner, hosting an interactive workshop for people who have no experience in economics. It’s aim is to bring them into the economics sphere through discussion and creativity. The toolkit includes direct instructions on how to run it, and whoever is running it can take part too!
If you haven’t done so already, check out the toolkit here, and if this seems like something you think your group would want to host, then register your interest below. You’ll find the toolkit is split into three sections (identity, understanding and empowerment). This means that you could feasibly host a series of 3 workshops on ‘getting economics and the economy’. Or you could have it all in one session - whatever’s good.
Regarding who attends, the workshops have been made to appeal to anyone from the age of 12-112, but they are specifically designed to work with people that have never had an interest in economics before - the whole point of your sessions would be to get them interested!
What happens after?
It’s really important for us to understand the impact that we’re having as a charity, and to learn from the sessions that you’ll be running. At the end of each workshop we would like you to send us impact questionnaires to see if those in attendance now feel like the understand the economy a little bit better. In return we will grant you £50 for your local group, for every 15 impact assessments that you send. We can also offer a small bursary for printing and refreshments required for the evening, to make sure your attendees have a good time, of course! You will also have the chance to run one of these workshops in a one-off event Rethinking Economics/Economy is hosting with the Bank of England - more details on this will follow in June 2017.
What you’ll gain:
- A raised profile for your group through this official partnership with Economy
- £50 for your local group in return for 15 completed impact questionnaires
- The opportunity to volunteer in a toolkit event run by RE and the Bank of England
- A refreshed insight into how you feel about the economy yourself!
If this sound interesting, but you're not a member of Rethinking Economics, then why not join us?
